Spectrasonics Ominisphere software synthesizer is powerful and diverse.
This software has been the technology of countless producers, sound designers, and songwriters from EDM to cinematic scores for years.
It is the only softsynth that tallows Hardware Synth Integration–which means you can use your current hardware to control Omnisphere’s newly expanded synthesis capabilities. This means you can use the hardware you know and are used to control everything in Omnisphere. See the full list of supported hardware here.
It has a library of sounds so vast, it is almost impossible for anyone to run out of ideas. The possibilities with Omnisphere’s synth engine are essentially endless.
Check out the newest update to Omnisphere in the video below.
This synthesis engine comes with 4,000 beastly sounds with four layers per patch, 57 powerful FX Units, and an infinity of ways to design original sounds for your tracks.

Omnisphere VST Overview
Omnisphere 2 brings an entirely new level of control and sound design possibilities to the universe of Spectrasonic’s flagship virtual instrument. More than just an upgrade, Omnisphere 2 is a massive leap forward featuring all-new synthesis architecture, an improved user interface, new effects, and more.
Hundreds of A New Synth Sounds: The new engine utilizes Spectrasonics’ “Icon” modular synth technology which is a combination of traditional analog-modeled synthesis along with the very latest in DSP processing techniques. The sound selection was made by Eric Persing and the development team and includes many unique new creations as well as some iconic classics from the original library.
All-New Sound Sources: Omnisphere 2 brings an entirely New Classic Synthesis experience. The new Oscillator and LFO system provides Omnisphere with three times the waveform sources of the original. All sources draw from a vast new collection of over 500 gigabytes of digital recordings especially created for this library, including an unprecedented variety of acoustic, electronic, and virtual instruments as well as state-of-the-art “drum hits” and FX.
Omnisphere 2 features enhanced sampling with support for 24-bit .WAV files, plus AIFF. While some sampled content remains at 16-bit, the core sample streaming engine is now 24-bit native, greatly improving the quality of re-sampled content. Users may now also drag and drop their own WAV files directly into the Omnisphere interface for use as sound sources.
Enhanced Envelope System: New ADSR Envelopes allow for an unlimited number of breakpoints, each one optionally modulated by velocity, aftertouch, LFOs, or key tracking. The new Filter Envelope now incorporates an innovative new “Acceleration” mode which turns the envelope into an analog synth-style 2-pole filter with a configurable key track.
Enhanced LFO system: The LFOs now offer additional waveforms, improved synchronization options, and user-assignable modulation destinations. Also featured is a new multi-waveform LFO which can act as a mod envelope, for cyclic modulation effects.
Enhanced Arpeggiator: Omnisphere Native now includes an enhanced arpeggiator with an expanded number of rhythm patterns including support for user-defined patterns and built-in pattern randomization features. The arpeggiator also now has the ability to send MIDI out from its dedicated output in the Rack, allowing for external effects and processing to be applied to incoming notes.
Enhanced Effects: The flexible new Effects architecture includes a multi-effects unit for each sound source and an Aux Effect that can apply any of the 32 internal effect units to any of the sounds in Omnisphere. All effects can be modulated by their own LFOs, the Master Effect LFO as well as other internal modulators.
Decked out with New Controls: The new interface was designed to provide an even more intuitive and efficient workflow for performing musicians. In addition, all the knobs have been upgraded from mechanical pots to ultra-smooth endless rotary encoders with LED indicators, providing a digital “feel” to the controls.
Hardware Synth Integration: Omnisphere 2 is the first softsynth that allows complete control of its synthesis architecture through any USB MIDI controller hardware. Users can easily program and store presets for their favorite hardware synth or wheel controller utilizing an intuitive graphic interface, then recall those presets back into Omnisphere 2 with the simple press of a button. This interface provides direct real-time control of all parameters including navigation through the sound library, all with LED feedback for both Omnisphere and the hardware unit.
New Scoring Tools: A new “Scoring” mode is included to provide composers with a screen-based presentation of Omnisphere’s front panel, allowing for a faster selection of sounds without the need to use a hardware controller.
Omnisphere is one of the most powerful synth software on the market. The new version of Omnisphere has many improvements that make it easier to use and more affordable than ever before. If you’re an EDM producer or sound designer looking for top-notch quality at a lower cost, this may be just what your studio needs.
