Need some free midi files? Look no further, ya’ll! I’ve looked all across the interwebs to find free midi files for you. This is the most comprehensive midi files list around. These include FL Studio midi files, popular songs, chords, and genres.

Use these midi files to jump-start your production but I encourage you to switch things up and make everything original.

A lot of the time, the midi notes can be off. So if you’re looking to remix, make sure everything is in key and have a listen to the whole file before moving forward with your project.

In the early days of MIDI, there were many limitations. One was that notes could only be on or off, which made it difficult to get a realistic sound for an instrument. Musicians had to find ways around this limitation by employing chords and other techniques that would allow them to have more than just one note at a time in their song. If you want your songs to sound full and rich, chord progressions are a great place to start!

If you’re looking at this article, I’m going to assume that you know what a MIDI file is and how they work.

MIDI is a file that contains similar information to a sound recording, but not in an audio format. Instead, it instructs a device or instrument on how to play back the notes from a song from computer memory.

Here’s what you need to know about using these files:

Where do I get MIDI files? First of all, you can find them on the Internet. You could do Google searches, you could go to YouTube and search for MIDI files or you could use any of the links I’m including below. Or better yet, get your hands on some music-making software like FL Studio and use one of the built-in sounds. Then make something new with them and upload your own MIDI files and share them with the world!

What’s the catch? There isn’t one. If you’re using these in a commercial production or public performance, make sure to credit whoever contributed but other than that, do what you want with them. If it makes sense, link back so others can find the original source.

What should I do before using a MIDI file? Listen to the whole thing so you know what key it is in and if all of the notes are actually included. It’s not uncommon for some notes to be missing from the end of a file or for some midi files (specifically percussion parts) to play another instrument (like a drum) even though the symbol says it’s a cymbal sound. I’ve listed some of these below so watch out for that.

Can I use these files in my commercial music? Yes, but only if you give attribution to the update source. The copyright for these files belongs to everyone, not me or you or them, so as long as you give credit, it’s all good.

How can I find out more about MIDI files? There are a ton of resources that go into the history and sequencing of songs from these files. Way too many to list here so just do a Google search or hit up Wikipedia.

I will be updating this list often so make sure to bookmark it or something so you don’t forget.

If I missed any free midi files that you know of, leave me a comment and I’ll make sure to add them to my list.
